Geology- Geoligists have found possible histroy of volcanic activity dating back 1.4 6 million years ago in the canyon. However this cannot be said for certain because it is also possible that a process of erosion and river formation could have occured in a process called fluvial erosian. There are so many theories and none can be pin pointed exactly.
History- In the 1880s, before white settlers moved into the Ute canyon for cattle ranching, the canyon was once inhabited by the Ute Indians. The canyon holds many memories of their past including the legacy families, ranchers, their first school, and mining efforts.
Plantlife- The Mormon Tea shrub is an edible plant that you can use to make a beverage. It's the perfect beverage for Mornons because there is no caffine, just an herbal tea ;)
Watershed- The Ute canyon is the only canyon in the world to divide it's water flow. At the highest point, being the middle, water flows both east and west off the canyon.
Wildlife- The Yellow-breasted Chat bird has a yellow breast with black wings, and a long white/grey tail. We are not sure of it's lifespan.
