Question 1:
Geology: The huge granite cliffs found throughout the canyon used to be the bedrock of the earth's crust 1.4 - 1.7 billion years ago but it rose after a geological uplifting event. The geologic origin of the canyon is still debated to this day because of its uniqueness. It is called the Unaweep canyon because the canyon has 2 mouths because the water flows into two flows (east and west).
History: The Ute Indians inhabited the area and settlers gave them cattle to move to this canyon. They continued to use the land for cattle grazing and livestock. As the community/town grew a new gateway school was built.
Plantlife : The most interesting plant I read about was the broadleaf yucca because it attracted my eye with its blue-ish green, thick, spikey leaves with white spiky hairs. This plant also has tear drop shaped flowers and an oval shaped fruit in the middle.
Watershed : The water from West Creek drains out of the western end of the Unaweep Canyon. The water choices made at home or owls have a direct impact on water locally and on the colorado river so we have to make smart water choices.
Question 2
